With no game this weekend as a result of the disaster against Birmingham here’s a puzzler to keep you busy. There have been 12 Toon players who have played in the Premier League whose name has ended in ‘A’. Before you try it on……you can not include Shear’a’, Park’a’ or even Shola…. there are 12 without any silly trick ones. Answers on the message board please.

There didn’t seem to be a great deal of optimism as we set off from the Sporties, but we had a full bus as usual. Passy was obviously feeling guilty after accusing everybody of eating all his Ferrero Rochers and his sandwiches on the Boxing Day Bolton trip. To make amends he had brought a plastic bag full of bacon and sausage and black pudding sarnies. . . . more

Steve Bennett is a t*sser. We haven’t won any of the 12 games prior to today in which he has refereed. He’s dropped humongous blunders that has cost us the game: even sent a Toon players off only to see his red card rescindered days later. So it certainly wasn’t a surprise when Defoe scored an offside goal to open the scoring. However his antics couldn’t spoil what turned out to be an amazing away performance. . . . more
