Two trips down the M6 in the space of 4 days, the first stop being a trip to Everton for an early kick – off the morning after the party of the year. First stop was the usual meeting point of Micks house to join the twins, Jonny and friends to make up our convoy. We also picked up Dirk who was surprisingly a lot less hung over than most of us. Next stop was Scotch Corner, as John who was en route to West Brom for work had decided he would rather meet us there than Coxhoe. The rest of the trip to seemed to pass quickly thanks to long periods of sleep.

As we approached Liverpool we stopped for John to leave the works van, after which I felt a little less comfortable having to share the back seat with him and Dirk.

We parked up at the other side of Stanley Park at a pub called Cabbage Hall – a large friendly pub with free car parking. A pleasant mid day stroll through Stanley Park and we made it into the ground just in time for kick off, which is where the fun element of the day promptly ended.

I cant remember too much about the match other than we were awful, the view was shite, their fans were shite and to be honest we didn’t make all that much noise either. Ok- so we might have had a penalty but that doesn’t change the fact that Nigel Martyn was not tested all afternoon. Everton looked every bit as bad as the mackems but predictably scored with a set piece as they seem to every season and it could have been worse as James Beattie missed an open goal a little later. To make matters worse we hit the traffic on the way home and the journey seemed to take forever.
