Our final fixture of 2006 saw cracks appearing at an alarming rate all over the field on a day when simply nothing went right for United and we suffered our worst reverse of Roeder's regime.

After 9 mins an Arteta corner at the Park End was headed goalwards by Yobo and eventually poked over the line from inside the six yard box by Anichebe, Given rooted to his line as he watched ball trundle in. The second half again saw some neat passing interplay from United, but little end product. It got worse on 58mins when another Arteta corner, this time at the Gwladys Street end was headed on by Johnson for Anichebe to hit the bar with a header then smuggle the rebound into the net from close range. 0-2. Then on 62mins came another corner with the same result. Arteta swung it in again at the Gwladys Street End and it fell to fell to Phil Neville. His slightly miscued shot could have gone anywhere, but arced perfectly over the retreating Given and into the net - his first goal since leaving Old Trafford. 0-3.

Roeder made another astonishing decision when substitute defender Edgar was stripped off and ready for action, he then opted to bring on Sibierski - pushing Butt back into an unfamiliar central defensive slot!?!?

It's easy to pinpoint our interminable defensive woes for this demoralising defeat - three goals stemming directly or indirectly from corners tell their own story.
