Another 3 Points Lost
The night before last I dreamt The Toon played the whole game against Man City without any tops on, bare buff, skins, whatever you want to call it. The reason for this was that Eric and Kirky had broken into the dressing room and nicked all of the black & white tops and, as the sky blue away strip clashed with Man City’s colours, the referee ordered The Toon to play in skins!

Tonight’s first half performance was certainly an improvement and on this occasion I agree with Mr Allerdyce – had we taken our chances wed’ve won the game. Unfortunately the more chances we squandered, the more likely it was that they would score. Indeed City took the lead on 38mins when a long ball was tapped into the path of Elano, whose low 18 yard left-foot shot flew past Given in the Gallowgate goal. At first I thought that Given may have done better, however the half-time replay showed that the shot was placed right into the bottom corner. We still created chances.

Owen replaced Martins at half time and immediately had the best chance of the game, Hart making a desperate save with his leg to deny our number 10 with his first touch. Ironically City sub Fernadez had been on the pitch for barely a minute when he netted his first goal in English football in similar fashion to Elano's opener. 2-0 to them… over.

Prior to the game Eric had criticised Passy’s behaviour on the way home from Wigan. Now there’s a first – Eric criticising someone else’s behaviour…now that IS unbelievable.

Anyway that’s another 3 points lost. We've gained 1 point out of a possible 12 over what looked to be a relatively easy Christmas period. We’ve lost the last three and have only won 2 in our last twelve games. Poor…very poor!

To conclude my dream – the stolen Toon tops were handed out on the bus on the way home……..I got Nicky Butt’s.
