The Big league.
I must confess I didn't really know what to expect today. In fact I set off for today's game fearing a below par performance in front of a below par crowd creating a below par atmosphere.

How pleasantly surprised I was to find a crowd of nearly 37,000, the third highest in the country and over 12,000 above the next highest in the league. The performance was also anything but below par as Ameobi put in a man of the match performance with his first ever hat trick for the club.

30 Carrvillians turned out including Alan Shearer, however he wouldn't make any comment whatsoever on his, or the clubs current position.
There were some good performances today, Nolan, Enrique & Smith. I cant remember Harper having to make a save!

Without getting too carried away, I'm looking forward to the next game. Yes, Reading were very poor today and I appreciate that we will face sterner opposition in the coming months. I'm also aware that we had the same amount of points this time last season and look what happened. Nevertheless if we can continue today's performance and attitude into the next few games....who knows!

Kirky provided the post-match entertainment in The Sporties with this little gem....

Billy The makem, ' We're in the big league, don't forget....the big league!'

Kirky, 'Don't be so daft, there's 24 teams in our league...now that's the big league!!'
