This game was must win. Southampton came in decent form having beaten Man City at St Maryís in their last game and nicking a draw off Chelsea in a 5 game unbeaten run.

I cant remember too much about the match having been comprehensively drank under the table by Kieron and John yet again the previous evening. I spent most of the first half trying to eat a pie that cost me a scandalous £3.60 and I spent most of the second half concentrating on keeping it down.

I think we all feared the worst when Southampton took the lead just as we were taking our seats, especially given the fact that we havenít exactly got a great record of coming from behind to win. It seems that we are bit more resilient now and controlled possession for most of the half until Sissoko tapped in Gouffrans shot which Boruc parried into his path. Ten minutes later Cisse scored the kind of goal that he scored loads of last season, a looping volley straight from Elliots free kick from about 25 yards which has to be one of the goals of the season. You could see it was going in as soon as it left his boot. This got him out of jail as he had missed a simple chance minutes earlier.

Unfortunately Collocini didnít make it to half time after doing his back in and it seems like he is going to be out for a while. This gave us the chance to have a look at Mbiwa who looks canny but likes to have the ball at his feet a little bit too long for a centre half for my liking.

Santon managed to add to the doubts about his defensive attributes by getting caught out wide by Lalana who crossed for Lambert to tap in. 2-2 and it at this point you could see either team going on to take the 3 points.

We got our break however on 67 mins when Fox handled Debuchyís cross and Cabaye confidently dispatched the penalty. Fox added to the mare he managed to make for himself when he smashed Santon s cross off his centre half into the net. The fourth goal eased the tension and allowed us to finish much the stronger team.

Hopefully our recent upturn in fortunes will help us achieve safety and mid table mediocrity as soon as possible.
